Are the stories about Jesus true

Can I trust the Gospels? Are they reliable?

The Bible has two major parts - the Old Testament and the New Testament. The New Testament starts with the four Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The word gospel means good news, or even better, great good news.

Each of the Gospels tells the great good news of who Jesus is and what he came to do. But, people ask as they read them, ‘Can I trust the Gospels?’ Yes, I think you can. Here’s a short video to help you see why you can trust the Gospels!

Luke, the author of a Gospel writes

Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.
